This term we are beginning a new unit on the history of schooling in Australia. This aligns with the new Australian Curriculum. You can help out at home by telling your children stories about life when you were at school. Perhaps they can also ask an older relative about their experiences. You are welcome to send in any artefacts from the past, for example, old school books, a slate, a port, an old uniform or photograph. You may be able to think of some other things you have at home. I will keep your items safe and the children will be allocated some time to talk about the piece they have brought in. Unless it is your child's birthday, we do not have regular show and tell in Year Two. Opportunities this term for speaking in front of the class will be artefacts from the old school days and a Master Chef presentation later in the term.

What's happening in Term 2?
- We have a little work to finish from term 1. We will complete our activities on Roald Dahl's book The Twits and write a character description.
- Parents will be invited in for an open morning a few times during the term. At this time they can look around our room with their children and take a look in their books. Parents could double check their child has crayons and felt pens. We have ample supplies of lead pencils, erasers and glue already that were sent in on the first day. It is not a parent interview time.
- Parent teacher interviews will be arranged towards the beginning of the term.
- We will begin to learn all about procedural texts. This includes; recipes, instructions, science experiments and magic tricks.
- We will showcase our talents in Master Chef Presentations and a Science Fair!!!! I have added a lot of links to the Science Page to get you thinking about experiments.
- We will build our knowledge in Mathematics by extending our number skills to hundreds and thousands.
- We will be studying the history of schooling in Australia and probably go on an excursion to launch this topic.
- We will continue to post on our blog to keep you updated with exciting learning and events.
This is going to be another action packed term. I can't wait. Ms Taylor

The Great Egg Roll Global Project
On the last week of the term we completed our first Global Project - The Great Egg Roll. We filled a plastic Easter egg with Blue Tac to make it heavy. Ms Taylor drew a really long line on the concrete with chalk and marked off every 5 cm. The class took turns to roll the egg as far as they could along the ground and the children counted out how many centimetres the egg rolled. The results will be posted in a few days and emailed to the coordinator of the Project. When our results are online I will let you know the links. Luka is very keen for the pictures to be on the blog so I have put them on for you all to see in the mean time.
