Week 9 Activities

Our class has still been very busy but poor Ms Taylor is exhausted and hasn't been posting anything because she is asleep by 8pm!!!

We followed a Procedural Text to learn how to play a game called Uno Stacko.  In game procedures they have different action verbs to recipes.  We were used to pour, chop, cut, etc.  but in the game they were play, take, choose etc.

We had some hands on creating of three dimensional shapes.  We used toothpicks and bluetak and the magnetic construction pieces in the photos.

We followed an procedure on Activity TV to create a horse and a heart picture like these master pieces.

We used hands on counters bowl and shapes to learn about multiplication and division.

We have some great new activities that the children can easily access themselves with the PIN number on Scootle.  We practised recounts and shapes and tessellating patterns on these activities.

Theo created a wonderful shop and all the children came as shoppers to purchase three items.  Theo got a bit sick of all the shopping and wanted to close up early until he saw the sad faces of all his classmates who still hadn't had a turn.  He stepped up and went back to being a shop keeper for a while longer until he served all 28 customers.

We have finished our wonderful Master Chef Presentations.  They have all been fabulous and we have been treated to some delicious tastes and recipes.

Mikayla made Money Tails!!!
Andre showed us how to make Japanese Pancakes.

Callum had some really long fruit sticks.
Elizabeth made fruit sticks.

Xavier made pancakes.
Theo made a pattern with his fruit sticks.
Ms Taylor was very grateful to Abby who had extra wraps for her lunch.
Luka had a candle lit dinner with Tuna Mornay.
Joseph had delicious Hommus.
Emma made a dip for strawberries which Ms Taylor made for her kids at home who licked the bowl clean.
Vivian had tones of photos of how to make sushi.
Percy had chocolate dipped strawberries.

Kate had fruit sticks.
Hannah made banana bites.

Joshua had a great Power Point of how to create Zucchini Slice.  (Another lunch for hungry Ms Taylor)

We finished our Science Unit about Mixtures.  We did a couple more experiments including making slime.  This photo is of a mixture of oil and water.  We tried to mix water, oil and detergent with varying degrees of success.
We went on an Excursion to QPAC to see a show as part of the Out of the Box celebrations.  Three buses picked us up from school.  Those bus drivers have some driving and parking skills.  The show was really good and based on a book we had already read. It was called The Race for the Chinese Zodiac.

Ella and Freya were actors in a play on Saturday at the Arts Theatre.  Ms Taylor was very sad not to attend due to exhaustion.  We are reading this book in class at the moment.  It s a pity we all could not go.  Hopefully they will share their stories with us on Monday.

Some girls from Year 2 are in a Netball Carnival on Sunday.  I hope they play well.

What a great week!  Only one left (thank goodness).

Hannah's presentation was on Power Point with videos embedded.  Unfortunately they would not work when I uploaded it.  Sorry Hannah, maybe Mum or Dad know how to do this and can let me know.

I'm not suprised that you are all feeling a little tired. What a jam packed term! I got tired just reading about everything you'd done.

  2. Dear 2B and Ms Taylor,
Congratulations on a great semester of learning and fun in yr 2. I have listened to many of you read since January and your improvement is impressive. I have enjoyed being able to share in many of your activities through the blog. Thanks Ms Taylor for taking the extra time to blog the events. I expect you must be all feeling quite tired by now. You should be proud of your work and hope you have a great holiday break.
